RE: Case of the Herky-Jerkies

first; yes I have checked the driveshaft it is a one piesce shaft second; I Don't think it is the brake switch because I have changed controllers and I tow other a car trailer and it tows fine. Third; as for the engine mis as I just said it tows other trailers fine with no engine mis. as per my local trailer shop they suggested a brake away switch I installed a new one. I brought the camper home today about a 45 min ride and it did it all the way home. I checked the temp of the brakes and they were all equally warm.
Thanks everybody so far.

RE: Case of the Herky-Jerkies

Thanks for your replies but I don't think I discribed my condition correctly. This is a 30fter. When traveling at highway speeds I can feel the trailer brakes grabbing or pulsating but I am not applying any brake. I have checked the brakes and they are fine I even loosened them up. it isn't constant it comes and goes. seems worse when accelerating going up hill. It is not my truck I tow a car trailer and sometimes have very heavy loads on it and I don't have any problems.
Thanks

Case of the Herky-Jerkies

I have an 02 Keystone Sprinter 5th. My truck is a 04 2500HD With factory trailer harness. When towing I get a brake pulsation or the herky-jerkies from the brakes and the brakes are NOT applied It seems to get worse going up hills when I am accelerating. I have checked the brakes, they look ok, I changed Brake controllers that was ok, and even checked for power bleeding into the brake system and that is also ok. Has anybody had this problem it is killing my gas mileage.:?
Thanks Brian

RE: hot water

I am having the same problem in my 02 Keystone sprinter with a suburban 6 gal. gas/elec. water heater. I have checked and tested everything. I even called the factory and they say it is working normal. The little woman is not to happy when our friend have an Atwood 6 gal. water heater in there camper and they can take back to back showers and not run out. I am thinking about switching over to an Atwood or as you are thinking, tie in a tankless water heater.Good luck with yours and if you come up with something please let me knoe

Fridge. problem

I have an 02 Keystone Sprinter 275BHS. When I travel I keep the fridge going on gas. When I Get to my site or home I plug in the Electric and turn off the gas. I thought the fridge should automatically switch over to elec. when it see's it or at least when it runs out of gas. What do ya think.
Thanks Brian

RE: Basic battery question.

You could install an isulator between the two batteries and then you won't have to worry about draining one battery to the other.

RE: installing a receiver hitch in short bed trucks

I have a 2004 gmc 2500hd and an 02 Keystone Sprinter 275BHS. I have a standard reese 5th wheel hitch mounted over the axle. The company that installed it said it had to be installed over the axle.
I also installed a 10 inch extension that works just fine. You just have to pay attention to hilly camp sites. You still can't jackknife the camper but gives you alot more distance between cab and camper.
My suggestion is to install what you have and keep your eyes open for a good, used slider. Try Craigslist. This is what I am doing
because a slider is the best for a short bed truck. Craigslist had some in my area for around $250 but I was to slow in getting one.
Good luck

RE: 2 minutes of Hot Water

I looked on the Suburban water heater web site and they do say you can use elec. and gas at the same time for a faster recovery rate. Still does not help me just thought some of you would like to know.

2 minutes of Hot Water

I have a 2002 Keystone sprinter 275 5th wheel.
It has a 6 gal. gas/elec. hot water heater. When taking a shower or using the sink I only get 2 minutes worth of hot water.
I checked the bypass valve, switched from elec. back to gas, and I do have a camper syle shower head.
My friends have the same size and style heater and he gets about 10 to 15 minutes worth of hot water. Please help wife not happy. Thanks
